What's an ordinary 15-year old boy to do when he can see dead people?

Young Ichigo Kurosaki finds out one fateful day when he meets Rukia Kuchiki, a female Soul Reaper on the hunt of a hollow (malevolent lost soul). This hollow is drawn to an unusual level of spiritual energy within Ichigo and thus Rukia appears to defend him and his family against the attacks. As a result, she is injured and transfers a portion of her powers to the boy is to continue the fight.
